I often use frozen cherries in smoothies and shakes, but it's even better in summer when I have fresh ones on hand. I used both avocado and frozen banana for thickness (I promise you can't taste the avocado).
I made this smoothie for my kids so added about 1 tbs. of Enjoy Life chocolate chips for the chocolate element. If I was making for myself I would opt for 1 tbs. of unsweetened cocoa powder instead, since the smoothie is already on the sweeter side thanks to the two fruits.
You can also add a little spinach here if you'd like. Again, you won't taste it but it will make the smoothie more of a deep purple than pretty pink shade.
1 cup canned coconut or unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup fresh pitted cherries
1/2 frozen banana, cut into chunks
1/2 ripe avocado
1 tbs. dairy-free chocolate chips OR 1 tbs. usnweetened cocoa powder
splash of vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients in blender and process until smooth and creamy.
