Perhaps the Best Paleo Turkey Burger Ever

When Oprah's show was still on the air, the episode in which she gave away her favorite things was huge. Likewise people bought her book club picks in droves; if Oprah likes something, it must be awesome… right?

Well I don't put too much stock into Oprah's opinions, but when I stumbled upon the recipe for her favorite turkey burger, I admit I was intrigued. It's a burger on the menu of one of Donald Trump's restaurants (Mar-A-Lago), and the ingredient list sounded tempting. I happened to have everything on hand and decided to give it a whirl.

The results were crazy tasty! Very juicy and the perfect balance of sweet and spicy with a little bit of crunch. My kids liked them as well.

I also tried out a new recipe for grain-free buns, which I'll be sharing tomorrow. It was nice to have a "normal" burger night that the whole family enjoyed. I definitely recommend this one!

Perhaps the Best Paleo Turkey Burger Ever
adapted from Mar-A-Lago

2 thinly sliced shallots
1 small Granny Smith apple, peeled & diced
3 stalks celery, finely chopped
1 tsp. olive oil
1.5 lbs. ground turkey (I used thighs)
salt & pepper
3 tbs. mango chutney (I used hot chutney, so skipped the added Tabasco)
juice of 1/2 lemon

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat; add shallots, apple and celery and sauté until soft. Remove from heat and add to a large bowl. Add turkey, chutney and lemon juice. Season generously with salt and pepper.

Form meat into patties and cook on either a grill or on the stove top.
