Paleo Strawberries & "Cream" Smoothie

I can honestly say I didn't eat a single piece of Halloween candy. And I'm not being a big martyr in this declaration, as the stuff just doesn't do it for me. I will confess, however, to having had more than one glass of apple cider sangria with friends as our kids collected quite the booty.

While I do have certain rules and limits when it comes to Halloween candy, on the night itself I know my kids consume more than their share of treats that make me shudder. Perhaps *that* is why the holiday is known for being scary? ;)

Anyway, this morning I wanted to get them back on track so whipped up these smoothies. I love avocado in every way, shape and form but neither of my kids are big fans. When it's blended with berries, however, they have no clue they're slurping something green. The avocado and cashew both help create a nice creamy texture.

I made these with canned coconut milk but you can use any non-dairy milk or water for the liquid.

Paleo Strawberries & "Cream" Smoothie

1 cup frozen strawberries (not thawed)
1 tbs. raw cashews
1 medium ripe avocado, peeled, cored and diced
1 cup non-dairy milk or water
1 tbs. raw honey
1 tbs. ground flax or hulled hemp hearts

Combine all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
